We have been covering the material in our textbook. Chapter 5 is about the transcontinental railroad. We have learned that it was important because it moved people and goods much quicker. Building the railroad was discussed and we learned about the Big Four, the four men who invested in the railroad and made sure it was completed.
Tomorrow is our last DARE day and Thursday we expect to have extra time in class before lunch because the parents of the pre-k through 3rd grade students are eating Thanksgiving lunch with us. I have already gathered some drinks and cookies for us to have at the beginning of class, so we will not get hungry if there is a long wait.
Currently we are working on a poster project, each student selected a person or event from the first four chapters and is preparing a poster board with pictures and facts about their topic! After a little more research we will be ready to finish this project.
