Our class began today with this statement:  Tell me what you know about Christopher Columbus.  There were a few misconceptions like he came to the United States on the Mayflower and he helped Lewis and Clark on their expedition!  We moved on to read some information about Columbus that cleared up some misinformation, then after lunch we had a contest to see who could complete a Columbus word find puzzle the quickest!  The winner received $20.00 in classroom money. 
We continued with our study of Civil War battles covering some information in our text and completing a workbook page together.  Also, we talked about primary and secondary sources and read a brief biography of Robert E. Lee.
