Tuesday, September 14

We began class with a round of review questions from yesterday.  I drew names from my pencil can and  a correct answer was worth $5. The question that most people missed was, what is the name of the machine that separated cotton fibers and cotton seeds?  I am confident if I ask that same question Thursday every student will know the answer!
In our textbook we learned about the disagreements that had been brewing between the North and the South before the Civil War began.  We also studied the Missouri Compromise.
Some of the main words we covered today were sectionalism, tariff, states' rights, territory and compromise.
We will finish lesson one in chapter two on Thursday when we cover the Compromise of 1850.

Tomorrow is a DARE day for us.
