Tuesday & Wednesday, Jan 18-19
Over the past two days we have been studying about the Civil Rights Movement. We read in our text books about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other people such as Linda Brown and Rosa Parks. We also went to the computer lab and watched a video about the movement. We will be having a quiz over the Civil Rights Movement notes that I gave the students today, on Monday, January 24.
Another skill that we have began this week is learning the 50 states and where they are on the map. We did a practice just to see what they knew, and I will have to say I was very impressed! The students were awarded classroom money based on the number of correct states they could already identify.
We will be learning 5 new states per week, until we reach 50. Students will have a "States Quiz" each week (hopefully after this week, every Friday) with the first 5 states being Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Next week we will add five and have a quiz over all 10 states that we know. So please help remind your student to study! Our first "States Quiz" will also be Monday, January 24. (This will be the only time we will have two on the same day)
